October 26, 2023 — 
This fall, the Faculty of Law welcomed alum Allison Fenske [LLB/2007] to the role of Clinical Counsel. In addition to assisting the University of Manitoba Community Law Centre’s Director with supervising students, Fenske is teaching Gender and the Law, and working on the development of an international human rights clinic.

October 23, 2023 — 
Representatives from Robson Hall’s faculty and student bodies made some impressions on attendees of the 35th annual Indigenous Bar Association conference hosted by the Chippewas of Rama First Nation, held at the Casino Rama Resort, Ontario, October 12 – 14, 2023.

October 20, 2023 — 
On Friday morning, October 13, 2023, Justice Gerald Heckman was warmly welcomed back to Robson Hall. Prior to his appointment to the Federal Court of Appeal on June 1, 2023, Justice Heckman was well-known and respected at the Faculty of Law as Professor Heckman.

October 20, 2023 — 
The Faculty of Law was pleased to be a part of a second-annual collaborative event with the Law Society of Manitoba and the Manitoba Bar Association held September 27 in honour of National Day of Truth and Reconciliation.

October 6, 2023 — 
The Winnipeg Human Rights Tour began in 2022 as a way to introduce new Master of Human Rights program students to some of the many Human Rights aspects of Winnipeg. Beginning in St. Boniface at the grave of Louis Riel, founder of Manitoba, the tour has now been successfully delivered to two generations of Master of Human Rights students and has grown in content, scope and recognition.

October 6, 2023 — 
Over 150 runners assembled at the ruins of the Birtle, Manitoba Residential School on the morning of Saturday, September 30, to honour Residential School Survivors and those who never made it home. The ruins marked the starting line of the Second Annual Reconciliation Run, organized by first-year law student Tréchelle Bunn. Her home community, the Birdtail Sioux Dakota Nation, marked the finish line of the half-marathon, officially sanctioned by the Manitoba Runners’ Association

October 3, 2023 — 
On August 22 and 23, law students from the L. Kerry Vickar Business Law Clinic attended the 51st Northern Association of Community Councils (NACC) Annual General Assembly and Trade Show at Canad Inns Destination Centre Polo Park in Winnipeg. The NACC Annual General Assembly welcomed representatives from Northern Manitoba communities and others who support providing accessible services and resources to people living in Northern Manitoba.

September 27, 2023 — 
A member of the Birdtail Sioux Dakota Nation, and an athlete who believes in the power of movement as medicine, UM law student Tréchelle Bunn founded a healing walk in July 2021 which has since grown into the Reconciliation Run, Canada's first National Day for Truth and Reconciliation Half Marathon.

September 15, 2023 — 
Last week, on September 8, we welcomed our new Access to Justice in French Concentration (A2JF) students to their law studies with a tour of St. Boniface. After lunch at The Forks, we visited several of our program partners.

The Faculty of Law proudly congratulates members of its alumni and teaching communities who were recognized by August 29th Orders in Council issued by the Manitoba Government.
