The UM launched the Experience Catalogue last September, to allow students to browse through experiential learning and student involvement activities that are taking place in courses (curricular) and outside of the classroom (co-curricular). Currently, there are over 700 experiences, showcased in the Catalogue, and when students participate in these activities, the experience will be captured on their Experience Record.

Connect to your future through experiential learning

September 18, 2023 —
The University of Manitoba is a place for learning. Here you learn from books, lectures, classroom discussions and labs–all part of your educational journey, but not necessarily the whole story. Experiential Learning (EL) is all about you; about the skills you are looking to build, and ways to develop those skills and competencies. It allows you to gain experience and learn by doing. EL can happen inside a classroom, as a part of a course experience, or it can be something that you seek out outside of their coursework. Experiential Learning that happens outside your classes takes place in the workplace, on the land, and in community settings. Reflection is a big part of EL. When you reflect on your experience, you can better connect your learning to real world situations.

Legal Super Heroes

July 14, 2023 —
Pro Bono Students Canada is a national pro bono organization with Chapters at 22 law schools across the country, including the University of Manitoba. The PBSC’s mission is to provide free legal support to people and communities facing barriers to justice. Volunteers at the University of Manitoba chapter have gained valuable legal experience in clinical settings, on research projects, and as legal interns throughout the Academic Year. By exposing law students to the value of Pro Bono service, PBSC aims to encourage the next generation of lawyers to make pro bono service an everyday part of their practice.
