Students’ Teacher Recognition Reception returns in-person to celebrate educators
May 12, 2023 —
The Students’ Teacher Recognition Reception is an opportunity to celebrate teaching excellence. Each faculty and school nominates an outstanding graduating student, who then selects two teachers who have made important contributions to their education – one from their Kindergarten to Grade 12 years and one from their time at UM. This year, the group of 22 graduating students spoke about 44 outstanding educators who inspired them.

UM honours 2022 Emeriti

On November 22, the University held its annual Emeritus event in-person for the first time since 2019. Emeritus or Emerita titles are granted to those who have performed distinguished service in their respective roles. This year’s event honoured vice-presidents, deans, and professors, for their commitment to UM over their careers.

The Office of the Provost and Vice-President (Academic) has officially announced the appointment of Dr. Bruno Silvestre as Dean of the I.H. Asper School of Business. Dr. Silvestre will begin his five-year term starting July 1, 2022.

Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SOTL) Program calls for applications

The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SOTL) Program provides opportunities for professors, instructors and librarians to meaningfully engage in projects that increase knowledge in pedagogy and learning. The SOTL Program also invites applications for teaching scholars and teaching fellows, two new funding streams that provide opportunities for enhancing educational leadership.
