Please join Professor Emeritus Erwin Huebner on Wednesday, December 16th at 3:30 pm for his lecture, entitled “Science and Art: Exploration, Imagination and Innovation – Artist Books Inspired by Science”.

November 17, 2020 — 
When it comes to innovation and the environment, Meagan Smith and Bentley Turner are going places. The Faculty of Science students won second place and $15,000 in the 2020 Lake Winnipeg Aquahacking Challenge, hosted by the International Institute for Sustainable Development in partnership with Aqua Forum, a Montreal-based organization.

October 7, 2020 — 
Dr. Jayanne English, an expert in astronomy image-making in the Department of Physics and Astronomy, at the University of Manitoba won 2nd place in the prestigious National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO) cosmic image contest for her latest cosmic image, a composite VLA and Hubble Space Telescope image revealing the extended magnetic field of the galaxy NGC 5775. Named: Magnetic Field of Galaxy NGC 5775.

The winners of the 2020 Summer Undergraduate Research Experience 3MT thesis competition hosted by the Faculty of Science are:

August 10, 2020 — 
Over forty undergraduate students enrolled in the Faculty of Science are participating in the first (virtual) Three-Minute Thesis (3MT) Science Undergraduate Student Competition, August 11th, & 12th, 2020. A new initiative, part of the Faculty of Science, Student Undergraduate Summer Research Experience Program. Three Minute Thesis challenges students to communicate their ideas and research discoveries concisely to a non-specialist audience, in three minutes or less. There will be two competitions that will air live on the Faculty of Science YouTube channel.

June 19, 2020 — 
Considered to be the Canadian equivalent of the United Kingdom’s Rhodes Scholarships, these $150,000 awards will help recruit and keep top doctoral students from across the country and around the world
