Strategic Initiatives Support Fund projects generate momentum for UM’s strategic mission

July 11, 2024 — 
The Office of the Provost and Vice-President (Academic) is pleased to announce 35 projects awarded funding, totaling over $2.2 million, through the Strategic Initiatives Support Fund (SISF). As the newly funded projects get underway, many projects from last year’s SISF fund have been completed. Read about three examples of impact from the SISF 2023-2024.

In 2024 UM participated for the first time in Map the System, a systems thinking competition. Unlike hackathons or case competitions where participants work towards a solution, Map the System is focused on deeply understanding a problem using systems thinking.

Teaching Award Winner trains future city planners to be engaged, empathetic and inspired

Dr. Sarah Cooper, [BES(York), MCP(Manitoba), PhD(UIC)], has been named the recipient of the Olive Beatrice Stanton Award for Excellence in Teaching. She will receive the award at Spring Convocation on the morning of June 5.
