February 6, 2023 —  Dimitar Tomovski is an MA student and 2022 recipient of a Centre for Professional and Applied Ethics graduate fellowship. The fellowship has allowed him to pursue his research on the rights of non-sentient beings with more financial freedom. The fellowships are open to UM faculty, instructors and graduate students from all fields and all faculties.

February 6, 2023 —  For the first time since 2011, the Canadian Centre on Substance Use and Addiction has updated Canada’s low-risk alcohol drinking guidelines. As we know, consuming alcohol comes with health risks and can affect our functioning and overall well-being. What we may not know, is what amount of alcohol starts to increase our risk. If you choose to drink, it can be helpful to be aware of strategies you can use to lower your risk.

February 3, 2023 —  This year marks the 50th anniversary since Canadian law schools first started hosting the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition’s annual Canadian Division Qualifying Tournament in 1973. The University of Manitoba’s Faculty of Law has the distinctive honour of hosting this Canadian leg of the world’s largest moot court competition over the weekend of February 23 to 25, 2023 at The Fairmont Winnipeg Hotel.
