Grad students recognized at UM student health research forum

June 28, 2023 — 
Over 130 graduate students from across the province, and representing a variety of health disciplines, presented their research in this year’s poster competition at the Manitoba Student Health Research Forum (MSHRF) as part of the three-day event at the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences. “This event is all about the grad students. It provides opportunity for them to present their research, refine their communication skills and be recognized for their achievements through the large suite of awards,” said Dr. Samantha Pauls, assistant professor at the College of Pharmacy and co-chair of the MSHRF.

Faculty of Law Rights Clinic Update: New team members and partnerships

This summer, the Rights Clinic at Robson Hall is dedicated to forging partnerships with organizations to advance rights on a broader scale. The Rights Clinic is thrilled to announce a number of additions to the team to support its summer operations and upcoming projects for the fall. Supervising Clinical Instructor Liz McCandless, joins forces with Rights Clinic founder Assistant Professor Brandon Trask, and incoming second-year summer students Lizzie Tough and Maria Garcia Manzano are enthusiastic about raising public awareness regarding rights-related issues.

Canadian Journal of Human Rights publishes 11th Volume

The only Canadian peer-reviewed academic journal dealing exclusively with human rights research has published its 11th volume. Founded in 2012 by Faculty of Law professor, Dr. Donn Short, the Canadian Journal of Human Rights: An Interdisciplinary Journal of Law and Policy remains a publication of the Law Faculty Council at the University of Manitoba. Each year, about 20 law students cut their teeth on academic research working for the CJHR as Assistant Editors, Editors, and as Senior Editor, all under the guidance of Dr. Short who continues as Editor-in-Chief.
