Get to know Asper School of Business Director of Indigenous Business Relations, Katherine Davis

Instructor and newly appointed director of Indigenous business relations, Katherine Davis [MBA/20] has spent the last 10 years working in cross-cultural settings building relationships with First Nations, Métis and Inuit communities. She is the first Métis faculty member at the Asper School of Business as well as an alum of the Asper MBA and President’s Student Leadership Program.

Get to Know Asper School of Business Director of EDI, Jieying Chen

September 11, 2024 — 
Associate professor of business administration and newly appointed director of EDI, Jieying Chen has conducted and published research on topics such as cross-cultural interactions, mindfulness, judgment and decision making, and strategic human resource management. She is currently conducting a project on immigrant adaptation, and some of her recent research examines factors that affect individuals’ adaptation in a new environment and gender issues in the workplace.

Associate professor of supply chain management and newly appointed director of sustainability, Minelle E. Silva pursues research that mainly concerns supply chain sustainability and inter-organizational relationships. He is passionate about social and environmental justice and develops academic work that sheds light on problems in supply chains. Silva was appointed director of sustainability at the Asper School of Business effective July 1, 2024.

Beyond Profit: Seeking Sustainability, a short documentary film directed by Ridley, had its Winnipeg premiere on June 12, 2024. Featuring an introduction from the film’s executive producer, Bruno Dyck and a fireside chat moderated by Asper MBA alum, instructor and producer Rohan Shanker [MBA/23], the premiere welcomed community members, local business owners, students and faculty to connect over their passion for sustainable business.

Convocation a time to reflect on the moments that inspire

Last week, more than three years since that winter break, Connor Egan addressed a crowd of over 1,600 at the 2024 International Distinguished Entrepreneur Award (IDEA) Gala, the premier event of The Associates of the Asper School of Business, to announce that the Price Student-Managed Investment Fund (PSMIF) has raised over $3.5 million. Just one week later at Spring Convocation, Connor Egan will walk with his fellow Asper graduates in celebration of all they have accomplished during their unique BComm journeys.

Asper BComm alum leading business development at New Media Manitoba

Manager of Business Development at New Media Manitoba and Asper alum Corinne Gusnoski [BComm(Hons)/18] spends her days doing everything from consulting with Ubisoft Winnipeg to learning new applications for virtual reality (VR) technology. Despite Gusnoski’s tech-oriented work, her background is in business. Day-to-day, she works with interactive digital media companies and leverages her business expertise to support their goals.
