Academic Integrity in the era of Artificial Intelligence

To work more efficiently, we’ve all used certain Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as spellcheck, Google and automatic citation generators for years without much thought. As AI becomes more sophisticated and accessible, students are asking how it can be used, and how extensively to use it before it while maintaining academic integrity.

Scaabe School: Part of an Indigenous education at the University

October 4, 2023 — 
Join a cohort of Indigenous UM students learning experientially, on the land and in ceremony to support the Sweat Lodges on Fort Garry Campus.

The SVRC's office welcome space is full of comfy chairs and colourful pillows, helpful pamphlets. A selection of teas are lined up beside a kettle. There is red rope art displayed on the wall. It is comfortable and inviting.

Workshop registration now open: Responding to Disclosures of Sexual Violence

Initially offered in 2017, Responding to Disclosures continues to be a valuable workshop designed to help faculty and staff members prepare for a situation in which someone discloses an experience of sexual violence to them.

UM embraces new way of documenting student experiences

September 25, 2023 — 
The UM launched the Experience Catalogue last September, to allow students to browse through experiential learning and student involvement activities that are taking place in courses (curricular) and outside of the classroom (co-curricular). Currently, there are over 700 experiences, showcased in the Catalogue, and when students participate in these activities, the experience will be captured on their Experience Record.

New group on healing racialized trauma available to BIBOC students

Racialized trauma is the emotional and physical effects of racism, discrimination and race-based traumatic stress and distress against people of colour. This group will run every Tuesday (1:00 – 2:15 PM) from October 17 to November 17, 2023
