October is Student Success Month
Leaves changing colour, cooler weather, and a busy campus can only mean one thing: Fall Term is in full swing. As most classes return to in-person, your excitement or anxiety might be higher than usual. You might be feeling the pressure of your academic responsibilities, such as assignments, upcoming midterms, lab reports and research. This is an important time to ensure your toolbox is stocked with information, strategies and skill sets to succeed in your journey at UM confidently.
Whether you are a new or returning student, ensuring that you have everything you need to be successful can sometimes feel overwhelming. Fear not, October at UM is Student Success Month. Students can find great services and opportunities to get through the term and year successfully and confidently. A broad range of in-person and online events and workshops are scheduled covering essential and helpful topics, such as:
- Writing and study strategies
- Research skills and services
- Career preparation
- Coping with stress
- Emotional awareness and mindfulness
- Cultural identity and transitions
Student Success Month aims to remind you that your success depends on academic, emotional, mental and spiritual well-being. Your journey at UM is not meant to be travelled alone. Remember, a Bison is stronger within the herd.
During Student Success Month, we encourage all new, returning, undergraduate, and graduate students to attend events and workshops and connect and engage with the resources at UM to help you succeed!
A complete list of events occurring during October can be found on the Student Success Month webpage.
