On November 5, the University of Manitoba hosted its annual Emeriti event at the SmartPark Innovation Hub, recognizing members of our community who have been awarded the title of Emeritus or Emerita.

October 16, 2025 — 
The ESSENCE project - Emeriti and Senior Scholars Engaged in Navigating Continued Excellence - has been launched. Led by the Office of the Vice-Provost (Academic Affairs) and funded by the 2025–2026 Strategic Initiatives Support Fund, the ESSENCE project offers new ways to connect, collaborate, and celebrate the ongoing contributions of Emeriti and Senior Scholars.

October 6, 2025 — 
Two outstanding educators have been named the 2025 recipients of the Olive Beatrice Stanton Award for Excellence in Teaching. This prestigious award recognizes University of Manitoba educators who have demonstrated continuing teaching excellence and made significant contributions to advancing teaching and learning at UM.

October 6, 2025 — 
As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen community and inclusion on campus, the Office of Equity Transformation, in partnership with UM Libraries, has introduced the Affinity Group Work-on-Site Space program. This new initiative provides supportive environments where individuals from systemically marginalized and underrepresented groups can gather to work, study, and connect.

September 19, 2025 — 
Through the Diversifying the UM Art Collection program, 15 artworks by 11 2SLGBTQIA+ artists were procured during the summer of 2025. Find out more and apply to join the next committee.

The Office of Equity Transformation invites all students, staff, and faculty to participate in the UM Community Experiences Survey, now open until October 6, 2025.

September 10, 2025 — 
The Merit Awards recognize excellence in teaching, research, scholarly and creative work, service, and include a special category dedicated to Indigenous Achievement. Congratulations to all the recipients of the 2024 Merit Awards.

September 9, 2025 — 
The Promoting Black Flourishing Fund supports initiatives led by Black members of the UM Community and Black UM-affiliated groups and organizations that support the objectives of The Scarborough Charter, and advances anti-racism at the University of Manitoba. The fund is currently accepting applications until September 22, 2025.

September 8, 2025 — 
The University of Manitoba is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Nazim Cicek as the next Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences, effective January 1, 2026.
