The Winnipeg Jets, in conjunction with the National Hockey League, today announced that goaltender Connor Hellebuyck and the First Nations Pandemic Rapid Response Team’s Melanie MacKinnon have been named the NHL's Co-First Stars of the Week for the week ending April 11, 2021.

UM mathematicians at the forefront of infectious disease modelling
April 9, 2021 —
UM researchers: Drs. Julien Arino, Stéphanie Portet, and Kang-Ling Liao, (mathematics) are part of a $10 million-dollar investment in Emerging Infectious Diseases Modeling established between the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council and the Public Health Agency of Canada. The funding supports five multidisciplinary infectious disease modelling networks, that will significantly improve the coordination of infectious disease modelling to help Canada better respond to future public health threats.

The Faculty of Science is hosting a virtual Data Science Conference and Student Challenge, Nexus 2021, Bridging Academia and Industry, May 19-21,2021. The virtual conference will explore new and emerging trends in Digital Agriculture (May 19), Public Health (May 20), Transportation and Logistics, (May 21). Full-Conference Registration (three days) includes access to all keynote presentations and three additional presentations per day.
