May 20, 2025 — 
Raihanah Rahim’s decision to study in Canada began with a bold proposal to her parents. After finishing high school at 17 and completing her A-Levels, she found herself facing limited university options in Malaysia. The schools her parents considered "good" didn’t offer her admission, and private universities were simply too expensive. She presented an alternative: “If you really want me to go to university, I want to study in either Canada or Australia.” Between the two, Canada stood out for its educational opportunities and welcoming approach to immigrants after graduation.

January 10, 2025 — 
Starting a new semester, especially in a new country, can feel overwhelming—but finding a comfortable, welcoming place to live doesn’t have to be. St John’s Residence, located right on the University of Manitoba campus, is offering immediate availability for students looking for housing on short notice.

October 10, 2024 — 
Arriving in Canada for the first time is a scary feeling for many international students, including St John's resident Rei Shibue. The Clayton H. Riddell Faculty of Environment, Earth, and Resources student studying for his master's in microbiology felt isolated when he arrived in Canada. He did not know what to expect but was excited to get started. "When I first arrived in Canada, I felt alone. I didn't have any friends or know where to go on campus; I was just trying to figure out my way." 

September 9, 2024 — 
The 2024 St John's College art competition winner uses art to showcase the natural beauty he sees around him while producing it in the way he visualizes it.

August 6, 2024 — 
Moving from China to pursue his postdoctoral studies in the Clayton H. Riddell Faculty of Environment, Earth, and Resources, Xinyang Li expresses his gratitude for studying at UM while staying at St John’s residence.

August 1, 2024 — 
The St John’s college events coordinator and faculty assistant knew it was time for a new home, which was when he moved to Canada from Ukraine.

June 10, 2024 — 
From across Manitoba and all over the world, our residence students come from all over the world as they call St John’s College home when studying as University of Manitoba students.

June 6, 2024 — 
As we look forward to the 2024/25 academic year, St John's College proudly announces our new student ambassadors. These students come from various faculties, including arts, science, university 1, health sciences, and engineering.

April 2, 2024 — 
Prior to coming to the UM, Jasmine spent a year in an Indigenous military program in Ontario. Upon completing her program and getting accepted to the UM, an advisor at the Indigenous Student Centre on campus recommended to Jasmine to live in St. John’s Residence in her preparation for first year.

February 1, 2024 — 
Travelling from Africa to pursue nursing, Fatoumatta started her journey off at University 1, where she found St John's to help her academically and meet new friends like Hamidou, one of the St John's Residence Don's.
