May 16, 2023 — 
The University of Manitoba is pleased to announce that Dr. Kelley Main, a respected professor, researcher, and administrator, has been appointed Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies, effective July 1, 2023.

May 12, 2023 — 
The Students’ Teacher Recognition Reception is an opportunity to celebrate teaching excellence. Each faculty and school nominates an outstanding graduating student, who then selects two teachers who have made important contributions to their education – one from their Kindergarten to Grade 12 years and one from their time at UM. This year, the group of 22 graduating students spoke about 44 outstanding educators who inspired them.

January 30, 2023 — 
A Budget Model and Budget Process Review Steering Committee has been established to review the implementation of the university’s redesigned budget model.  

November 28, 2022 — 
On November 22, the University held its annual Emeritus event in-person for the first time since 2019. Emeritus or Emerita titles are granted to those who have performed distinguished service in their respective roles. This year’s event honoured vice-presidents, deans, and professors, for their commitment to UM over their careers.

June 29, 2022 — 
The Office of the Provost and Vice-President (Academic) has officially announced the appointment of Dr. Bruno Silvestre as Dean of the I.H. Asper School of Business. Dr. Silvestre will begin his five-year term starting July 1, 2022.

May 27, 2022 — 
Dr. Greg Smith began in this new role in April. Previously a professor in the Faculty of Arts’ Department of History, and Associate Dean (Graduate Studies, Curriculum, Space, Internationalization). We chatted with him about his academic path, and his Netflix binge list.

An accomplished administrator, professor and scholar, Dr. Greg Smith has been appointed Vice-Provost (Academic Planning and Programs) effective April 1, 2022

February 23, 2022 — 
The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SOTL) Program provides opportunities for professors, instructors and librarians to meaningfully engage in projects that increase knowledge in pedagogy and learning. The SOTL Program also invites applications for teaching scholars and teaching fellows, two new funding streams that provide opportunities for enhancing educational leadership.
