Naawi-Oodena “centre of the heart and community” to become Canada’s largest urban reserve

As the winter melt begins, so does the construction of Canada’s largest urban reserve, Naawi-Oodena. The massive project involving the evolution of the Kapyong Barracks site into an urban reserve with world class attractions is led by Asper alumnus Whelan Sutherland [BComm(Hons)/06], CEO, and Tim Daniels, Chief Development Officer for the Treaty One Development Corporation.

Entrepreneurship course inspires innovation and business training at Faculty of Science

The course was piloted in May 2021 and developed in collaboration with the Stu Clark Centre for Entrepreneurship at the Asper School of Business. It challenged students to generate ideas and address “Why” their ideas might succeed. It also covered the “How-to” with an introduction to business planning, market validation, and HR considerations, concluding in a group pitch event.

Business community member leaves behind legacy of mentorship and kindness at Asper

The Career Development Centre at the Asper School of Business is saddened by the passing of longtime co-op employer Frank Chamarengah. Chamarengah leaves a legacy of mentoring over 25 Asper School of Business co-op students since 2013. He consistently took in one or two students every work term, leaving a lasting impact on students and alumni.

President’s Student Leadership Program wraps up core week of programming

The James W. Burns Leadership Institute recently welcomed a third cohort of 23 participants representing some 15 disciplines, for the core week of the President’s Student Leadership Program. Students from across the province dove into an intensive week of workshops, seminars, and group work. Participants also got the opportunity to engage with prominent and impactful community and business leaders about their own leadership journey and leading through crisis.
