Michael Eskin inducted into Manitoba Agricultural Hall of Fame

Dr. Michael Eskin, professor in the Department of Food and Human Nutritional Sciences, was inducted this week into the Manitoba Agricultural Hall of Fame in honour of his world-recognized expertise in canola oil research and his many contributions to Manitoba’s agri-food community.

UM food scientist Dr. Martin Scanlon along with other members of the "Green" Processing Research of Canola Science Cluster Team were recent recipients of the Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) 2023 Gold Harvest Award.
Globe and Mail: The key to fighting ticks? Getting to know them better

According to Kateryn Rochon, an associate professor of entomology at the University of Manitoba, there are about 40 species of ticks in Canada, and most of them have a preferred host. Rabbit ticks, for example, are usually found on rabbits, and groundhog ticks on groundhogs.
