November 7, 2022 — 
The University of Manitoba has earned a STARS gold rating for a second time in recognition of its sustainability achievements from the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE). STARS, the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System (STARS) is a transparent, self-reporting framework for post-secondary institutions to measure their sustainability performance. UM’s 2022 STARS report is publicly available on the STARS website.

October 14, 2022 — 
Waste Reduction Week is back! UM is participating in Waste Reduction Week by hosting a variety of events on campus and sharing helpful tips on Instagram to help you reduce waste at home.

In celebration of Energy Efficiency Day, learn what UM is doing to increase energy efficiency on campus, and identify actions you can take at home

If you have an interest in water sustainability issues including drinking water and sanitation, water governance, and international climate issues, this speaker series is for you! Starting September 19th, the UM UNAI Hub will be hosting six virtual presentations from various UM researchers.

August 29, 2022 — 
To prepare for the influx of personal protective equipment (PPE), UM has partnered with Vitacore, a Canadian-based recycling company that ensures the materials from PPE are recycled. UM’s PPE will be sanitized, shredded, and melted down to be repurposed into new construction materials such as concrete reinforcement and exterior sidings.

August 16, 2022 — 
A restorative space and plant wall provide a breath of fresh air at the Fort Garry campus! With help from the Success Through Wellness grant, hosted by Human Resources and Student Affairs in 2020, the Desautels Faculty of Music in partnership with the Office of Sustainability (OOS) has built a plant wall on the fourth floor of Taché Hall.
