Gather your team for the Jack Frost Challenge

Bundle up, lace up your skates, clip on your snowshoes

January 27, 2023 —

So many winter activities, so little time! Join friends and fellow Manitobans for this year’s Jack Frost Challenge — a province-wide event organized by the Green Action Centre that takes place from Feb. 5 to 11 and encourages participants to complete 130 collective kms of winter activities. Manitobans can register individually or as a team of up to 5 members.

University of Manitoba participants are encouraged to add “UM” to the start of their team names (I.e., “UM-Team-name”) for a chance to be entered to win UM-specific prizes. Don’t be afraid to get creative with your team name, the Green Action Centre offers a special prize to a team with the best name!

Do the Jack Frost Challenge with UM Winter Active from Feb. 6 to 10

This year, UM Winter Active from Feb. 6 to 10 offers UM students and staff the chance to try a variety of winter activities on campus, from fat-tire biking and cross-country skiing, to skating and winter walking.

See the entire UM Winter Active schedule.

You can attend on your own or with your Jack Frost team to earn kms towards your team goals.
UM Winter Active in support of the Jack Frost Challenge is co-sponsored by the Office of the Vice-President (Administration), the Faculty of Kinesiology and Recreation Management, the Office of Sustainability, and UMSU.

Register for the Jack Frost Challenge — individually or as a team of up to 5 members.
