July 10, 2020 —  Part two of the Meet the 2020 Emerging Leaders series focuses on some of the Indigenous leaders that are a part of the strong Indigenous community at the University of Manitoba. Let us meet them.

July 10, 2020 —  Born in Nigeria and raised in Winnipeg, Michael Akins graduated from Oak Park High School and headed straight for the University of Manitoba on sports scholarships. Akins transitioned from sports to law because of his older sister. "She was the smartest person I knew growing up and I was always inspired by her academic drive and leadership," he says.
