Meet Robert Tate, 2021 Honoured Alumni, Faculty of Science : Network News
February 2, 2021 — Dr. Robert Tate continues to advance health science as Director of the Manitoba Follow-Up Study (MFUS), the longest-running study of cardiovascular disease and aging in Canada. It started at the University of Manitoba in 1948, and in the 72 years of the project, 44 of them have involved Dr. Tate, more than 50 of whose publications come from this study.

Recently awarded the designation of Queen’s Counsel in British Columbia, the Dentons partner has twice-received The Canadian Tax Foundation’s Distinguished Writing Award and received the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal. When he graduated as Gold Medalist in Law from Robson Hall in 1985, no one could have known that this once-aspiring mathematician had started down this illustrious career path by taking the LSAT on a whim.
