YuJa Video launches in UM Learn

Contest open to UM instructors who use YuJa in September

September 1, 2021 —

As of Sept. 1, 2021, YuJa Video is available to all faculty, staff and students at the University of Manitoba through UM Learn. YuJa Video is a video platform that will help instructors and students at UM:

  • create more accessible videos through its captioning and transcription capabilities
  • protect instructors’ intellectual property
  • allow users at UM to create and share videos without advertising interruptions

For Mark Torchia, Vice-Provost (Teaching and Learning) and executive director of The Centre for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning, YuJa’s most exciting capability is that “It will automatically caption and provide a transcript of videos, making all of the videos we create at UM more accessible.”

Instructors are encouraged to create a welcome video in UM Learn for their courses. Any instructors who create a welcome video by Sept. 30 will be entered into a contest to win great prizes. For more information about YuJa, log into UM Learn or check out the information on The Centre for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning’s website.
