Yahoo News: U of M alumnus challenges terrorism, not religion
The recent tragedies in Paris and Nigeria are the focus of a Yahoo News column from University of Manitoba alumnus and champion of human rights, David Kilgour.
The former member of the Parliament of Canada is now co-chair of the Canadian Friends of a Democratic Iran and a director of the Washington-based Council for a Community of Democracies.
In the column, Kilgour asks his readers to challenge terrorism, not religion.
It is unjust to connect the vast majority of Muslims, who are peaceful, to jihadists. We non-MuslimCanadians tend to know little about the large number of peaceful Muslims living across our country, many of whom have been persecuted elsewhere and sought refuge in Canada.
