The Centre is co-hosting a national teaching and learning conference in June

May 1, 2019 —

The Centre for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning is co-hosting, along with partners Red River College and the Université de Saint-Boniface, the annual conference of the Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (STLHE) in Winnipeg this June. The conference, which will take place from June 11-14, brings together educators and educational developers from across Canada and internationally who have a passion for teaching and learning in higher education.

This year’s theme, Guiding the Journey: Learner-Teacher-Learner, focuses on the continuous educational pathway from learner to teacher to learner. The conference will showcase the current trends and innovative practices at many post-secondary institutions.

“The Centre and its conference partners have planned a unique conference experience that will highlight teaching and learning and provide a venue for participants to develop new connections, networks and ideas that they can then take back to their home institutions,” says Erica Jung, associate director of the Centre and conference chair.

A number of pre-conference sessions, to be held on June 11, are available to conference participants. The full-day pre-conference session will be held at Turtle Lodge, a sacred gathering space and a centre of excellence in Indigenous education. Pre-conference participants can also choose from five half-day sessions which will be offered at the RBC Convention Centre.

The main conference is being held from June 12 – 14 at the RBC Convention Centre and delegates can expect two and a half days of programming including an inspirational keynote presentation by Irshad Manji, founder of the Moral Courage Academy, a global leadership studio and sanctuary based in Hawaii. A celebratory gala dinner will be held at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights.

The Centre invites the university community to attend this wonderful networking event to share their expertise and collaborate with their peers from across the country.

The conference registration deadline is May 31, 2019. Visit the conference website for more information and to register.
