Dr. Aleeza Gerstein recipient of CIFAR Azrieli Global Scholar Award

Congratulations! Dr. Aleeza Gerstein, Assistant Professor (microbiology and statistics) recipient of the 2021 CIFAR Azrieli Global Scholar Program Awards. Dr. Gerstein is one of 19 successful applicants out of a total of 300 who applied to the early career research program, which recognizes exceptional research from across the globe.

Meet Robert Tate, 2021 Honoured Alumni, Faculty of Science
February 2, 2021 —
Dr. Robert Tate continues to advance health science as Director of the Manitoba Follow-Up Study (MFUS), the longest-running study of cardiovascular disease and aging in Canada. It started at the University of Manitoba in 1948, and in the 72 years of the project, 44 of them have involved Dr. Tate, more than 50 of whose publications come from this study.

The University of Manitoba Faculty of Science and the Canadian Statistical Sciences Institute (CANSSI) have agreed to collaborate to promote statistical sciences research and training, both in Canada and internationally; to establish a Regional Centre for the Prairie Region: Manitoba, Saskatchewan, NWT and Nunavut (“CANSSI Prairies”).
