Maximus Sandberg stood in the middle of the Pinaymootang School gym holding a stack of pamphlets and papers he planned to take home and read. The Grade 12 student had just visited the 10 booths that were part of the health-care professions career fair held on Pinaymootang First Nation on September 24.

Two College of Nursing students originally from Nigeria took part in a workshop with youth in Little Saskatchewan First Nation this summer that explored video as a way to share the community’s continuing struggles following a devastating 2011 flood.

Before the lectures began and the studying started, first-year Rady Faculty of Health Sciences students were introduced to their programs and primed for academic success during orientation sessions.

The College of Nursing, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences welcomed 10 students into its doctoral program this fall, the largest group since the program’s inception in 2013 when five students were accepted.

August 19, 2019 — 
This summer, College of Nursing dean Dr. Netha Dyck and College of Nursing professor and Rady Faculty vice-dean, education Dr. Christine Ateah were among more than 5,300 nursing professionals from 120 countries assembled in Singapore for the International Council of Nurses (ICN) 2019 Congress. The conference, which takes place every four years, will be co-hosted by the Canadian Nurses Association in Montreal in 2023.
