June 22, 2025 — 
From May 7 -9, the Manitoba Legal Clinic for the Arts participated in the Northern Arts & Food Workshop, in Thompson, Manitoba. Hosted at University College of the North (UCN) in partnership with Creative Manitoba and the imagiNorthern Network the purpose of this event was to explore cultivating a strong, resilient creative economy that honours the diverse cultures, traditions, and talents of Northern Manitoba.

May 28, 2025 — 
The L. Kerry Vickar Business Law Clinic and Manitoba Legal Clinic for the Arts are operating at full speed, with a record seven law students hired to provide pro bono legal services throughout the summer of 2025 to clients anywhere in Manitoba with internet access.

May 27, 2025 — 
The 2025 Robson Hall Mini Moot took place on March 17, 2025, and was organized by co-chairs Jessica Blatta and Kassandra Taverner of the Manitoba Law Students’ Association’s Clinical Experience Committee. The Committee congratulated Linnea Kosokowsky (1L) and Meagan Gillis (1L), winners of the 2025 Robson Hall Mini Moot.

May 27, 2025 — 
The third annual Art Braid Business Law Case Competition took place on Friday, February 28, 2025, at Thompson Dorfman Sweatman LLP (TDS)’s offices. This year’s case challenged students to review and analyze a services agreement on behalf of a client and present their recommendations. Congratulations to winners Jordan Wagner (3L), Eric Wagner (1L), and William Ho (1L), and to runners-up: Eric Martin (1L), Tyler Rubigny (1L), Thomas James-Davies (1L), and Alessandro Imbrogno (1L). The Desautels Centre for Private Enterprise and the Law generously funded the competition.

May 20, 2025 — 
This year’s Harold J. Fox Moot team demonstrated excellence in advocacy, collegiality and respect, as demonstrated by the awards they brought home following the February 21 and 22 competition on Intellectual Property, held in Toronto. Maria Pepelassis was the Runner Up (2nd place) for the Donald F. Sim Award for Best Oral Advocate, while the full team of Steven Csincsa (3L), Marianna Pozdirca (2L), Maria Pepelassis (2L), Jordan Wagner (3L), was awarded the inaugural Ronald E. Dimock “Spirit of the Moot” Award.

May 9, 2025 — 
The Faculty of Law's Director of Clinics, Elizabeth McCandless announced Thursday, April 10, 2025, that Mary-Charlet Lathlin (3L) was the recipient of the inaugural Wolseley Law LLP Award for Student Clinical Excellence. The award highlights the importance of experiential learning for law students and serves to encourage excellence in the practice of law. “Wolseley Law is really happy to have the opportunity to inaugurate this award,” said Gerrit Theule [JD/15], founding partner at Wolseley Law, LLP.

On March 6th, 2025, law students from U of M’s L. Kerry Vickar Business Law Clinic presented “Start-up Law 101: Law for Entrepreneurs,” a webinar delivered in partnership with Futurpreneur.

On March 11, 2025, students from the L. Kerry Vickar Business Law Clinic at the University of Manitoba Faculty of Law visited students at Balmoral Hall School to share information on business law fundamentals and paths to becoming a lawyer in Manitoba.

On February 11th, 2025, law students from U of M’s Manitoba Legal Clinic for the Arts presented at the “Business Affairs Workshops for Emerging Producers and Filmmakers”, hosted by On Screen Manitoba in partnership with Winnipeg Film Group.

February 24, 2025 — 
All members of the legal community are invited to join us for this lecture held in honour of Harry Walsh, O.C., LL.D., Q.C., one of Canada's most legendary advocates who fought for the abolition of capital punishment in Canada and helped found Legal Aid Manitoba.
