Asper alum Sinan Leylek [BComm(Hons)/14] is the President & CEO of Spark Rentals Inc., Canada’s first ice bike company that rents bikes designed to ride on frozen water.

The course was piloted in May 2021 and developed in collaboration with the Stu Clark Centre for Entrepreneurship at the Asper School of Business. It challenged students to generate ideas and address “Why” their ideas might succeed. It also covered the “How-to” with an introduction to business planning, market validation, and HR considerations, concluding in a group pitch event.

November 17, 2021 — 
The Career Development Centre at the Asper School of Business is saddened by the passing of longtime co-op employer Frank Chamarengah. Chamarengah leaves a legacy of mentoring over 25 Asper School of Business co-op students since 2013. He consistently took in one or two students every work term, leaving a lasting impact on students and alumni. 

October 28, 2021 — 
'I am feeling stress-free about my financial circumstances and can focus on my studies, which is a blessing,' said Alicia Boyes, the 2021 recipient of the Scholarship in Indigenous Business Education.

July 22, 2021 — 
The James W. Burns Leadership Institute recently welcomed a third cohort of 23 participants representing some 15 disciplines, for the core week of the President’s Student Leadership Program. Students from across the province dove into an intensive week of workshops, seminars, and group work. Participants also got the opportunity to engage with prominent and impactful community and business leaders about their own leadership journey and leading through crisis.

July 20, 2021 — 
Kelly Mahoney, UM alumna and Director of the Asper Career Development Centre, heads to Tokyo to serve as head referee for triathlon

May 17, 2021 — 
The Presidential Advisory Committee on University Outreach has selected five Asper School of Business faculty and staff for the 2020 Annual Community Outreach Award. Congratulations to Debra Jonasson-Young, Dr. Nathan Greidanus, Dr. Kerri Kettle, Dr. Subbu Sivaramakrishnan, and Dr. Fang Wan on their accomplishment.
