Note on the Passing of Dr. Donald Robertson

The University of Manitoba community is saddened to hear that Dr. Donald Alexander Robertson, LL.D., passed away on December 27, 2019.

Born in Norway House in 1935, Dr. Robertson was committed to education and community development, especially the betterment of Indigenous and non-Indigenous people alike through education at the elementary, secondary, and post-secondary levels. He was Chair of the Council on Post-Secondary Education (COPSE) for eight years, playing an important role in the expansion of Manitoba’s colleges and universities.

He received an honorary doctorate from the University of Manitoba in 2007.
