Applications open for the 2024 Promoting Black Flourishing Fund

The Promoting Black Flourishing Fund supports initiatives led by Black members of the UM Community and Black UM-affiliated groups and organizations that support the objectives of The Scarborough Charter, and advances anti-racism at the University of Manitoba. The fund is currently accepting applications until October 25, 2024.

Members of the University of Manitoba student community are active and contribute to building a better environment for their peers, and the Student Affairs Participation Award seeks to recognize students who manage to balance these voluntary commitments. This year, we congratulate Biosystems Engineering student Makenna Coldwell who is the 2024 recipient of the Student Affairs Participation Award.

This spring, UM established a Task Force on Mental Health and Well-Being to examine the current mental health supports available on our campuses and consider how we can strengthen these resources for our community’s holistic health. As part of the next phase of this work, students, staff, and faculty members are invited to share their thoughts and experiences to help shape a new comprehensive Mental Health and Well-Being Strategy.

We all deserve positive relationships

In healthy intimate relationships, partners can live their individual lives feeling emotionally and physically safe to be who they are. Unfortunately, we know this feeling of safety isn’t being experienced by everyone on campus. At UM’s Sexual Violence Resource Centre (SVRC), we regularly provide support to students, staff and faculty who are living in situations that do not feel safe to them. Learn more about what healthy and unhealthy relationships look like, intimate partner violence, and available support.
