This year marks the 40th anniversary of the University of Manitoba’s research partnership with the University of Nairobi – a remarkably productive alliance that has led to groundbreaking discoveries in the areas of HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

The effects of COVID-19 on health services was a running theme at the Collaborating for Health and Wellness Virtual Research Conference, hosted last week by the College of Rehabilitation Sciences, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences with the Faculty of Kinesiology and Recreation Management, the Applied Health Sciences doctoral program and School of Rehabilitation Science, University of Saskatchewan (USask).

Toby Le’s experience at 3MT Western Regional Finals on Sept. 23 was not only valuable and memorable, but also eye opening.

Preceptor of the Year awards are presented annually by the College of Pharmacy, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, to recognize the outstanding mentors that students train with, and learn from, while on their educational experience. The preceptors set aside time in their busy schedules to support and encourage the future pharmacists.

A $4-million investment from Canada's COVID-19 Immunity Task Force will launch a national study to investigate the burden of SARS-CoV-2 infection among aging Canadians, a population that has been shown to be at greatest risk for severe outcomes from COVID-19 disease.

Organizers of an annual Orange Shirt Day walk at the University of Manitoba were not going to let a pandemic stop them from honouring those affected by Canada’s residential school system in 2020.

Virtual lounges, graduate student presentations and a keynote address on team-based primary care will be the highlights of the Collaborating for Health and Wellness Virtual Research Conference this week, hosted by the College of Rehabilitation Sciences, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences with the Faculty of Kinesiology and Recreation Management, the Applied Health Sciences doctoral program and School of Rehabilitation Science, University of Saskatchewan.

September 28, 2020 — 
Physical and occupational therapy students from the College of Rehabilitation Sciences put their skills to work this summer to help Elders and those with dementia, as well as caregivers, in First Nations communities.

September 25, 2020 — 
Some individuals living with dementia will soon have a new way to interact with their caregivers, no matter where they are, with the help of telepresence robots being developed by the College of Rehabilitation Sciences, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences.
