June 14, 2024 — 
The Asper School of Business community mourns the loss of former instructor of accounting and alumnus, Peter Cooney [BComm/70, MBA/79]. Cooney passed away on January 18, 2024, with community members quickly reaching out to share their memories of his time as a student in the 1970s and his instruction in the department of accounting and finance from 1978 to 1999.

June 7, 2024 — 
Over 200 students gathered at the Asper School of Business Drake Centre on May 30th to meet face-to-face with a business icon, industry giant, prairie powerhouse and 2024 International Distinguished Entrepreneur Award (IDEA) recipient, Gerry Price [BSc/70, MSc/72, LLD/17]. The

On May 21, over 30 faculty were recognized for exceptional teaching, research and service at a reception held at Marshall McLuhan in UMSU University Centre.

Pinaz Mehta was prepared to climb the ladder from the laboratory to the boardroom, working as a criminalist assisting in the validation of AI software for the City of Tucson Arizona. With graduate training in forensic science and technology, Mehta excelled in research and began to detect the possibility of more. Suddenly, feeling even farther away from her family in Toronto amid lockdowns, Mehta realized that she needed a leap, not a ladder, to move forward. She began looking into MBA programs, seeking to develop her leadership skills closer to home.

June 5, 2024 — 
Last week, more than three years since that winter break, Connor Egan addressed a crowd of over 1,600 at the 2024 International Distinguished Entrepreneur Award (IDEA) Gala, the premier event of The Associates of the Asper School of Business, to announce that the Price Student-Managed Investment Fund (PSMIF) has raised over $3.5 million. Just one week later at Spring Convocation, Connor Egan will walk with his fellow Asper graduates in celebration of all they have accomplished during their unique BComm journeys.

May 30, 2024 — 
You might say that Asper BComm alum Kevin Chamagua [BComm(Hons)/18] runs a small business outside of his fulltime role as a Property and Casualty Specialist at Columbia Insurance, leveraging his Asper education in unique ways. He invests time, money and creative energy into this side gig; creating business plans, doing his own marketing, networking and managing a busy schedule for Marquesa, who is actually much more than a business.

May 28, 2024 — 
Manager of Business Development at New Media Manitoba and Asper alum Corinne Gusnoski [BComm(Hons)/18] spends her days doing everything from consulting with Ubisoft Winnipeg to learning new applications for virtual reality (VR) technology. Despite Gusnoski’s tech-oriented work, her background is in business. Day-to-day, she works with interactive digital media companies and leverages her business expertise to support their goals.

Charlotte Vis van Heemst, Career Consultant at the Asper CDC, regularly meets with industry experts to learn more about meaningfully implementing principles of equity, diversity and inclusion in all elements of career development.

Canada charts path for high-speed trains, but obstacles loom
