Join the celebration of excellence this spring

February 17, 2015 —

Even before their names are announced, it is safe to assume the five recipients to be honoured this May at the 2015 Distinguished Alumni Awards Celebration of Excellence have positively impacted the lives of people in Manitoba, and around the globe. That was certainly the case in 2014.

Last spring, the expanded Distinguished Alumni Award program debuted with a compelling look at University of Manitoba graduates who, in communities close to campus and abroad, led efforts to: promote peace and human rights; develop stronger and more inclusive communities; and deliver medical relief to populations in need.

Each recipient addressed the audience with moving testimony, reflecting on the people and experiences that have shaped their journeys thus far. Their touching remarks were complemented by a suite of moving musical performances by alumni who are rising stars in diverse musical genres including folk, country and opera. Their unique contributions were both stirring and inspirational for all in attendance. And the evening left little room for doubt that from here, one can truly go anywhere.

With preparations for the May 12, 2015 celebration underway, we invite everyone from the University of Manitoba community to join us: tickets are available at umanitoba.ca/distinguishedalumni. And we offer this look back at some of the sights and sounds from last year:
