Equity, diversity and inclusion workshops coming up soon

The Centre for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning offers numerous ways to make your teaching more just and equitable.

August 15, 2022 — 

We at The Centre for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning are excited to share our fall equity, diversity and inclusion offerings. Most workshops are in-person but there are a few on the list that are hybrid. 

Workshops for everyone

A peer learning opportunity for anyone lead-teaching a course in Fall 2022. Meet with a cohort of UM instructors at the start and finish, and work closely with a small group of 3 to 4 others through the semester to strengthen inclusive pedagogies in the course(s) you’re teaching. Registration deadline Aug. 19.

  • Conversations on Inclusive and Anti-Racist Pedagogies (Hybrid: in-person and on Zoom)

One-hour exploratory discussions of readings on key topics:

    • Islamaphobia in Teaching and Learning, Robin Attas and Tannaz Zargarian, Sept. 29, 12-1 p.m.
    • Teaching Writing to EAL Learners, Robin Attas and Xiaoxiao Du, Oct. 5, 12-1 p.m.
    • Implicit and Explicit Bias in Educational Technology, Robin Attas and Mark Meagher, Oct. 25, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
