Faculty of Law takes major steps to answer Call to Action 28 : Network News

December 13, 2021 —  Change can take a while to happen, but when the impact is finally felt, the results are rewarding. The amount of change between what third-year law student Katie Rothwell and first-year Melinda Moch have seen at the University of Manitoba’s Faculty of Law in terms of Indigenization of the law school curriculum, is significant. This year alone, changes law students like Rothwell and Moch have witnessed include the creation of a Truth and Reconciliation Action Team, the hiring of an Indigenous Student Support Coordinator, and an increase of Indigenous content in mandatory first-year law courses.

Faculty of Law to offer new mandatory Indigenous course : Network News

December 13, 2021 —  One of the most important accomplishments of the Law Faculty Council for the fall term of 2021 was to vote unanimously to approve the Faculty’s new Indigenous Course Requirement. The course has been named “Indigenous Methodologies and Perspectives" and will be offered in the second year of the Juris Doctorprogram. The course meets the requirements of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s (TRC) Call to Action 28.
