May 15, 2023 —  The Faculty of Social Work is deeply saddened by the recent passing of Pete Hudson, former dean, director and professor. In 1983, Hudson was the director in the School of Social Work and became the first dean when the School became a Faculty in 1989. While at the Faculty, Hudson was a strong community and social policy advocate, specializing in child welfare and working with Indigenous youth.

May 12, 2023 —  On Manitoba Day, May 12, the Province of Manitoba announced that 12 highly-accomplished Manitobans will be invested in the Order of Manitoba, the province’s highest honour.

May 12, 2023 —  The Students’ Teacher Recognition Reception is an opportunity to celebrate teaching excellence. Each faculty and school nominates an outstanding graduating student, who then selects two teachers who have made important contributions to their education – one from their Kindergarten to Grade 12 years and one from their time at UM. This year, the group of 22 graduating students spoke about 44 outstanding educators who inspired them.
