Streamlined Video Sharing with Stream (on SharePoint)

Microsoft replacing its original Stream with a new experience called Stream (on SharePoint)

May 15, 2023 —

You may have noticed a change in Microsoft Stream lately. That is because Microsoft is replacing its original Stream – now called Stream (Classic) – with a new experience known as Stream (on SharePoint).

You may have already encountered Stream (on SharePoint) if you have accessed Stream through the Microsoft 365 portal.

Key dates

  • May 15, 2023 – you will no longer be able to upload videos to Stream (Classic)
  • October 15, 2023 – you will no longer be able to access or use Stream (Classic)
  • February 15, 2024 – Microsoft fully retires and disables Stream (Classic)

Download your videos in Stream (Classic)

If you currently have videos in Stream (Classic) that are not stored anywhere else, go to Microsoft Stream (Classic) and download them as soon as possible.

Start using Stream (on SharePoint)

Stream (on SharePoint) is the personalized video-centric home base for everyone who wants to find, watch, enhance, or record video directly in SharePoint, Teams and OneDrive. Videos aren’t in a “single video portal” anymore. You can now upload and share videos like you would all other files.
