Online conference highlights smart technologies

June 11, 2020 — 
Technology that can make eating utensils and clothing “smarter” took top prizes at the 2020 Augmented Human Conference, hosted by the College of Rehabilitation Sciences, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences on May 27 to 28. The event, hosted in Canada for the first time, was originally scheduled to be held at Fort Garry campus but had to be moved to an online format due to the global COVID-19 pandemic.

Taking a stand against racism

We are all watching with trepidation what has recently occurred in the United States as a result of the death (murder) of George Floyd. We are witnessing a reaction to prolonged issues of anti-black racism in the U.S. and Canada exacerbated yet again by police actions. This was seen in similar scale in the 1960s and now demands reform in an environment resistant to change.
