From one legendary Canadian advocate to another

During one of the Faculty of Law’s busiest winter terms on record, one of the most exciting, and prestigious events held in Robson Hall’s largest lecture theatre, the Harry Walsh O.C., Q.C. Moot Courtroom, was the Harry Walsh Lecture, held March 3, 2025, featuring renowned Canadian lawyer Marie Henein.

Second Annual Access to Justice Forum Hosted at UM Faculty of Law

On May 23rd and 26th, 2025, the University of Manitoba and Manitoba Law Foundation co-hosted the second annual Access to Justice (A2J) Forum. The theme this year, “National Vision, Manitoba Momentum,” was centred around the strides Manitoba is making to walk in step with A2J initiatives across Canada.

Convocation 2025: Master of Human Rights student Priscila Werton Alves

July 17, 2025 — 
Brazilian medical doctor Priscila Werton Alves was one of six Master of Human Rights students to graduate in June, 2025. She completed the Practicum stream with a placement at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights and was the first physician in the program. Her intention in taking the degree was to learn how to become a Human Rights advocate after witnessing the loss of democratic rights in Brazil during the pandemic.

Law Students Contribute to a Sound Education

On June 16th 2025, law students from the Faculty of Law’s Manitoba Legal Clinic for the Arts presented to the Mid-Ocean School of Media Arts’ (MOSMA) class of 2025 about a few different areas of the legal world they may encounter over their careers. The in-person session was led by Donald Plant (2L) and Lee Margolis (2L).

The Faculty of Law congratulates Dr. Amar Khoday and Ms. Allison Fenske, recipients of the Faculty’s two top teaching awards given annually to recognize one professor and one practicing professional instructor. Khoday is the recipient of The Barney Sneiderman Award for Teaching Excellence and Fenske was chosen for the Dean’s Award for Teaching Excellence. The winners were announced at the June 7th Faculty of Law graduation dinner.
