Law Students at Arts Summit

On June 15, law students from the Faculty of Law’s L. Kerry Vickar Business Law Clinic attended the Arts & Culture Ideas Summit at the Centre Culturel Franco Manitobain (CCFM). Presented by the Manitobans for the Arts and Creative Manitoba, the event brought together artists, cultural organizations, arts supporters and community members to engage in a collaborative exploration of the arts and culture sector. The summit provided a platform for exchanging ideas, fostering connections, learning from one another and discussing how the arts and culture sector can rebuild and thrive in the changing times. This article reflects on this enriching event including some thoughts from attendees.

A Night of Stories with Janine Windolph

Janine Windolph is part of a growing movement of Indigenous female filmmakers shaking up the scene. On January 19, 2023 at the Winnipeg Art Gallery, to kick off her tenure as Writer-In-Residence at UM, The Decolonizing Lens and the Center for Creative Writing and Oral Culture held a wonderful welcome event with screenings of Windolph’s films.

Atikamekw filmmaker latest Writer-In-Residence

January 10, 2023 — 
Janine Windolph is the newest Writer-In-Residence at The Centre for Creative Writing and Oral Culture (CCWOC) at the University of Manitoba. Windolph will work with students, faculty, staff, alumni and members of the public from January to April 2023.
