September 18, 2023 — 
The University of Manitoba is a place for learning. Here you learn from books, lectures, classroom discussions and labs–all part of your educational journey, but not necessarily the whole story. Experiential Learning (EL) is all about you; about the skills you are looking to build, and ways to develop those skills and competencies. It allows you to gain experience and learn by doing. EL can happen inside a classroom, as a part of a course experience, or it can be something that you seek out outside of their coursework. Experiential Learning that happens outside your classes takes place in the workplace, on the land, and in community settings. Reflection is a big part of EL. When you reflect on your experience, you can better connect your learning to real world situations.

Every year, bursaries provide financial supports that allow students to further their education and better enhance their university experience. Applications for a variety of bursaries are now available for the 2023-24 academic year.

Two-Spirits Talking provides space for gender- and sexuality-diverse Indigenous students, staff and faculty to gather and talk about topics that explore and bridge their interconnected Indigenous and queer identities.

As a key strategy for advancing the principles of equity, diversity and inclusion at the University of Manitoba, Laurie Schnarr, Vice-Provost (Students) introduced the Grow Your Community Fund in winter term 2023.

Two outstanding incoming UM students have once again been awarded Schulich Leader Scholarships. Simar Ubhi (Engineering), from Kildonan-East Collegiate, and Cody McDonald (Science), from Murdoch Mackay Collegiate, are this year’s Schulich Leaders.

If you don’t plan to attend UM, you must drop all courses before the end of the revision period to avoid being charged fees for your courses.
