The 2022 Undergraduate Science Student 3MT Award Winners

September 12, 2022 — 
The Faculty of Science hosted its annual undergraduate Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition, held virtually on August 16, 2022. Twenty-two students competed in the 3MT competition, part of the Faculty of Science Summer Undergraduate Research Experience Program (SURE). The 3MT competition challenges students to communicate their ideas and research discoveries concisely to a non-specialist audience, in three minutes or less.

Science students to compete in Paris – win international biotech grant for zebra mussel control device

Once again, the University of Manitoba is amongst some of the world’s leaders in interdisciplinary research and application. UM’s Prairie iGEM Team, a group of undergraduate students led by Dr. Hans-Joachim Wieden, are this year’s recipients of the Impact Grant from the International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) Foundation.

New graduate scholarship, study space, to honour the late Dr. Dana Schroeder

The memory of Associate Professor Dr. Dana Schroeder will be honoured through a new graduate scholarship and a study space in the Faculty of Science. Dr. Schroeder was a respected associate professor in the department of biological sciences, where she worked from 2002 until the time of her passing in September 2020. Dana was a valued colleague, mentor, and friend. She is fondly remembered for her cheerful optimism and kindness to students and colleagues alike.
