This spring, UM established a Task Force on Mental Health and Well-Being to examine the current mental health supports available on our campuses and consider how we can strengthen these resources for our community’s holistic health. As part of the next phase of this work, students, staff, and faculty members are invited to share their thoughts and experiences to help shape a new comprehensive Mental Health and Well-Being Strategy.

Strategic Initiatives Support Fund projects generate momentum for UM’s strategic mission

The Office of the Provost and Vice-President (Academic) is pleased to announce 35 projects awarded funding, totaling over $2.2 million, through the Strategic Initiatives Support Fund (SISF). As the newly funded projects get underway, many projects from last year’s SISF fund have been completed. Read about three examples of impact from the SISF 2023-2024.

Culturally sensitive counselling a cornerstone of new EFAP

May 6, 2024 — 
University of Manitoba employees can now benefit from culturally sensitive counselling services through a new Employee & Family Assistance Program (EFAP) Kii by CloudMD. Kii offers mental health supports for the BIPOC and LGBTQIA2S+ communities, along with Elder and Knowledge Keeper supports for Indigenous employees.

New EFAP offers diverse mental health resources for UM employees

April 16, 2024 — 
Starting May 1, the University of Manitoba is switching from Telus Health to Kii by CloudMD for their Employee and Family Assistance Program. EFAP is a program available to all UM employees and provides free access to mental health and wellness services.
