Epp family values
Excellence is a cardinal Asper value — and an important Epp family value as well. Their company, Independent Jewellers, was named the Manitoba Family Enterprise of the Year by the Canadian Association of Family Enterprises at a gala event last Thursday.
Independent Jewellers was launched in 1937 by John H. Epp. Since then it has grown into one of Winnipeg’s most trusted sources of fine jewelry and watches. Over the years, the company has been run by Ernest Epp [BComm(Hons)/70], and now Jeremy Epp [BComm(Hons)/04] and Jonathan Epp [BComm(Hons)/09].
The Epp family has been a prominent member of Winnipeg’s business community and the Asper community. At the 2014 Bachelor of Commerce Luncheon, they presented the Asper School with a new Senior Stick — the symbol of office for the Commerce Students’ Association president — made out of 10K rose gold, reclaimed Winnipeg elm, and a custom-cut 40K citrine and carnelian intaglio: a symbol of excellence to inspire our school through the decades to come.
