What does it take to land a job at a high-profile pharmaceutical company like Pfizer? For Daryl Fediuk [B.Sc.(Pharm.)/03, PhD/12], it all started 24 years ago with a summer job in a UM lab.
Growing up in Winnipeg’s St. James neighbourhood, Cherie Murie [MOT/08] never imagined that she would spend her life working in the north. But after a fieldwork placement in Thompson as an occupational therapy (OT) student, she took a position in the northern Manitoba city and has not looked back for the past 16 years.
Dr. Peter Nickerson, a UM physician-scientist who was instrumental in establishing Canada’s national network for kidney donation and transplantation was honoured on Dec. 5 with the Lifetime Achievement Award from Canadian Blood Services.
