While this national day has only recently been established, ribbon skirts are a centuries-old symbol of identity, adaptation and survival for Indigenous women, girls and gender-diverse people.

Celebrating Dr. Catherine Cook

After more than 30 years with the University of Manitoba, inaugural Vice-President (Indigenous) Dr. Catherine Cook will retire at the end of January. Throughout her career, Cook has worked with First Nations, Métis, Inuit, provincial and federal governments, as well as community organizations, to champion the importance of health services for Indigenous Manitobans.
