Alumna takes the stage at the Metropolitan Opera tonight
Alumna Andriana Chuchman [BMus(Perf)/04] will sing the role of Adina in L’Elisir d’Amore on Thursday, January 9 and Monday, January 13 at The Metropolitan Opera in New York City.
This will be the debut of Chuchman at The Met; her original debut was going to be in February when she plays Miranda in the Baroque pastiche The Enchanted Island. For these performances, though, she is temporarily replacing Anna Netrebko, who has withdrawn due to illness.
While at the University of Manitoba the soprano studied under Tracy Dahl, who continues to teach burgeoning superstars in the Desautels Faculty of Music.
Her recent performances have included Gretel in Humperdinck’s Hansel und Gretel at Glyndebourne, Guinevere in Camelot at Glimmerglass, Magnolia in Show Boat at Washington National Opera, and Olympia in Offenbach’s Les Contes d’Hoffmann at the Canadian Opera Company.
