Pitblado Lectures: Dedicated to furthering legal education in Manitoba

November 9, 2018 —
Since 1960, the Manitoba legal profession has had the benefit of the annual Isaac Pitblado Lectures, established in honour of the late distinguished Manitoba lawyer, Isaac Pitblado. This remarkable man actively practiced law for 74 years. This year's lectures proved to be a testament to the strong relationship between the Manitoba Bar Association (MBA), the Law Society, and Manitoba's Law School.

Honourary Doctors Jim and Sandra Piblado return to Robson Hall each year to present Dean's Honour students with Pitblado Scholarships.

Taking Care of Hearts and Minds

The study of Law is an intellectually challenging and life-consuming endeavour, but mental health is not something lawyers have traditionally been willing to discuss openly. An in-depth CBC report from 2016 examined research that found lawyers are at higher risk of mental health issues and addictions than the general populace.
