This comes from her upbringing, as her dad was a member of the Midewin society – an Indigenous group made up of spiritual advisors and healers. Because of this, she grew up with traditional teachings dealing with the responsibility to protect the water, land and animals.

April 5, 2018 — The study of Law is an intellectually challenging and life-consuming endeavour, but mental health is not something lawyers have traditionally been willing to discuss openly. An in-depth CBC report from 2016 examined research that found lawyers are at higher risk of mental health issues and addictions than the general populace. In the fall of 2017, Ontario law schools started initiatives to address law students’ stress and anxiety.

Robson Hall Faculty of Law professor leads major SSHRC-funded research on improving Canada’s criminal justice system : Network News
April 5, 2018 — “It’s not every day that you get long-term SSHRC Insight project funding at a law school, let alone a relatively small one,” said Dr. Richard Jochelson, explaining the research project he is leading that has received nearly $70,000 in funding for the next five years from the Federal Canadian funding agency that supports research in the social sciences and humanities.

Lives boldly led : Network News
April 5, 2018 — Two remarkable lives have come to a close within days of each other last week when University of Manitoba Faculty of Law alumni the Honourable Douglas Everett [LLB/51, LLD/17], and lawyer, social activist and former elected provincial cabinet member and Winnipeg City Counsellor, Saul Cherniak [LLB/39] passed away on March 27 and 30, respectively.
