The many faces of Krish Maharaj
January 11, 2018 —
Mr. Krish Maharaj is the new Assistant Professor teaching first year Contracts and Trusts. He hails from Auckland, New Zealand, landing in Winnipeg, via Edmonton and Vancouver where he practiced in civil litigation, with a stopover at the Peter A. Allard School of Law at UBC to complete an LLM. Currently in the process of finishing his PhD, Maharaj’s area of research focus is the law of private obligations, specifically issues related to mitigation of loss in breach of contract cases.

Robson Hall Professor testifies before House of Commons in support of Yezidi women and girls

University of Manitoba Faculty of Law Assistant Professor Shauna Labman was invited to appear before the House of Commons' Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration on November 30, 2017. The Committee was in the process of hearing witness testimony on resettlement issues related to Yezidi women and girls.

Robson Hall Associate Professor wins inaugural Aaron Berg Award

Dr. Donn Short received the inaugural Aaron Berg Award at the annual Manitoba Human Rights Commission Awards held December 7, 2017. The award recognizes the contributions of Mr. Aaron Berg, former counsel to the Manitoba Human Rights Commission and General Counsel with Manitoba Justice.

Bilingual Students from Robson Hall make it onto the small screen

La télé de Radio-Canada, CBC’s French language counterpart, was invited to Robson Hall last month to take part in the Français juridique class (legal French terminology) to gather students’ impressions on the importance of bilingualism in the context of the Law Society of Manitoba’s 140th anniversary.

Robson Hall Teams Undefeated at 2017 NHL Moot
December 1, 2017 —
On November 12th to 13th, two teams representing Robson Hall competed in the “2017 Hockey Arbitration Competition of Canada” in Toronto. Each Robson Hall team went undefeated in the round robin stage of the competition, winning all three oral hearings.
