Research-based theatre’s healing power

As principal writer, Lea scripted the experiences of military veterans who shared their experiences, and then performed them onstage as a part of Contact! Unload, a research-based theatre project where the play becomes a catalyst for veterans who publicly interpret their struggles and experiences of transitioning to civilian life from military service in order to build resilience.

Winnipeg to host CSEA conference in 2018

Winnipeg will host the Canadian Society for Education Through Art (CSEA) conference from May 3-5, 2018. Up to 100 educators will come together to exchange ideas and learn about human rights in relation to visual art and visual art education.

Elementary school students get taste of university

From meeting the Blue Bombers on the stadium field, to learning about a lighting project for growing vegetables and fruits in the North at the Engineering Building, and touring the geology exhibits at Ed Leith Cretaceous Menagerie, some 120 wide-eyed elementary school students got a taste of university student life this fall.

Dr. Young conferred prof. emeritus

If you’ll pardon the cliché, being conferred the honour of professor emeritus was humbling, says Jon Young, who retired in 2016 as professor at the Faculty of Education. Even after receiving an honour shared by only nine other accomplished professors, each an academic giant in their field, Young could scarcely contain his characteristic modesty.
